European projects are essential drivers in transforming the healthcare systems of member states. Through innovative collaborations and strategic partnerships, these initiatives are crucial in addressing complex health challenges, improving patient outcomes, and increasing the efficiency of healthcare services.
European projects enable advancements in medical research, healthcare delivery, and policy development by leveraging cutting-edge technology, evidence-based practices, and cross-sectoral cooperation. Their contributions not only enhance the quality and accessibility of healthcare but also foster socio-economic benefits by reducing costs and improving the overall health of the population.
This year's workshop, Value Co-Creation in Healthcare: Enhancing Socio-Economic Outcomes, taking place at the HIMSS25 Europe Conference & Exhibition in Paris on 10th June at 15:30 CET, is jointly chaired by University of Helsinki and the European Patients' Forum. It will spotlight the transformative role of value co-creation in healthcare, driven by rapid technological advancements and digital transformation.
Gözde S. Briggs, Senior Programme Manager at the European Patients' Forum, highlights: “As co-chair, the European Patients’ Forum brings forward the strategic voice of patients and patient organisations in shaping healthcare systems. EPF works to ensure that patients are not only at the heart of European health policies but are also actively involved in shaping them. Its priorities include advancing patient involvement in research, digital innovation, and policy-making, while promoting equitable access to care and strengthening the patient community across Europe. Through advocacy, co-creation, and empowerment, EPF supports the development of patient-centric, inclusive, and digitally-enabled healthcare systems.”
Patients, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and Healthtech companies - each stakeholder group has an essential role to play in the co-creation of value across care pathways. Currently, this potential has not been fully understood or utilised in developing and delivering the health services. Strengthening our understanding of their potential contributions, embedding this knowledge into practice, and fostering a dynamic, multi-stakeholder approach will accelerate the development of truly value-driven and patient-centered healthcare services.
The central part of the workshop will feature groundbreaking EU projects: CYLCOMED, EDiHTA, ENTRUST, FLUTE, Gravitate-Health, IDERHA, MedSecurance, NEMECYS, ONCOVALUE, TRUMPET, XiA. Each project will showcase cutting-edge advancements, their unique contributions and the valuable assets they've generated, including tools, methods, and data, beneficial to diverse stakeholder groups.
A panel discussion will be organised for a deeper exploration of the challenges and strategies related to value co-creation and its socio-economic impact. This interactive segment will include questions posed by the Advisory Board to the project representatives, as well as an open Q&A session with the audience.
The Advisory Board includes distinguished members from the Ministry of Health in Finland and France, the European Commission, the OECD, IHE Catalyst, the European Patients' Forum, University of Helsinki, the Hospital of Lithuanian University, Health Connected Partners and HIMSS.
This workshop presents a prime opportunity for EU-funded projects and HIMSS Communities to establish powerful partnerships, share valuable feedback, and gain actionable insights. Together, they will explore the forefront of digital health innovations aimed at empowering citizens and enhancing healthcare outcomes.
Why Participate?
Whether you are actively involved in EU-funded projects or planning to form a consortium and apply for upcoming funding opportunities, this workshop offers an essential platform for knowledge exchange, strategic insight, and collaborative engagement.
