President's Letter
Dear HIMSS Maryland Chapter Members,
We are grateful and continue to be inspired by the selfless acts of courage, kindness, and generosity happening across our community as we rise up together in pandemic response. While our in person spring events are cancelled, we will continue serving your needs through a variety of online resources and virtual collaboration opportunities as well as charitable community support. We will share thought leadership and offer complimentary virtual events conducted nationally and locally. Join us for industry expert discussions such as the April 30th interoperability Fireside Chat with the ONC Coordinator Don Rucker, M.D., accessed through a no-cost HIMSS Learning Center account.
This is National Volunteer Week and I would especially like to recognize and offer a heartfelt thank you to our volunteers for their time and talent in serving the Maryland Chapter, now over 2,000 members strong. We honor the passionate and tireless contributions of our volunteers who fill committee and Board of Directors roles and financially support us through sponsor engagement.
Patience and fortitude enabled by hope carry us forward during times of crisis. “There are some very real reasons for hope and optimism right now and there is clearly a light at the end of this tunnel, but exactly how and when we will get to that light is going to be up to each and every one of us,” per Governor Larry Hogan. Thank you for your engagement with our Chapter and your organization. We wish you and your loved ones the blessing of good health as we continue rising up together in support of our community and the health ecosystem in Maryland.
Kathryn A. Whitmore
President, Board of Directors, HIMSS Maryland Chapter
