HIMSS Urges Biden Administration to Prioritize Health Information and Technology

HIMSS looks forward to working with the Biden administration to transform healthcare using health information and technology, which play a significant role in addressing the nation’s COVID-19 public health emergency and in creating an environment where healthcare system stakeholders leverage the power of innovation to realize the full health potential of every human, everywhere.

HIMSS urges the Biden administration to prioritize the role that health IT can play in enabling reforms. Together, HIMSS and the Biden administration can capitalize on investments made by HIMSS stakeholders to address and mitigate the impact of the pandemic and to and ensure that public policymaking keeps pace with the innovation occurring across the spectrum of care.

The healthcare enterprise needs the Biden administration, Congress, and the states to develop policies that leverage health innovation occurring across the United States.

With health IT at the nexus of healthcare transformation, HIMSS has identified the following as key health priorities for 2021 and beyond. HIMSS pledges to diligently work with Biden and his administration on the following issues that require immediate action beginning in 2021.

• Reaffirm Our National Commitment to Expanding Interoperability and Health Data Exchange
• Bolster Our Nation’s Cyber Defenses Related to the Healthcare Infrastructure
• Capitalize on Health Information and Technology to Apply Innovations to Care Delivery
