Annual Education Scholarship 2025
We’re excited to announce the 2025 Maryland HIMSS Scholarship application is now open!
About the HIMSS Scholarship Program
Each year the Maryland Chapter of HIMSS (MDHIMSS) awards scholarships to Maryland resident students enrolled in healthcare programs of any accredited academic institution pursuing a Health Information and/or a Health Technology career. Additionally, Healthcare HIT professionals working for a provider organization in Maryland may also apply for technical/professional certification courses and employer sanctioned professional courses.
The 2025 awards comprise three (3) scholarships of $2000 each to actively enrolled students during 2025.
Applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Be a resident of the state of Maryland
- Must be enrolled in a healthcare-related program at an accredited school
- Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
- Previous MDHIMSS scholarship winners are ineligible
In addition to the scholarship, MDHIMSS will award the recipient with a one-year membership to MDHIMSS, one-year assignment as a student member of the MDHIMSS Committee, and free attendance at the MDHIMSS educational programs for one year.
How to Apply
Scholarship Applicants will be reviewed based on the following categories and criteria. Please include all relevant accomplishments in your resume.
- Leadership
- Scholarship
- Communication
You will need to submit the following information to be considered:
- College transcript
- Proof of active registration
- Resume
- Personal statement
- Two (2) letters of recommendation. At least one (1) must be from a program instructor. The other may be from a program instructor or an employer/supervisor.

About the 2025 Scholarship Program:

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral program in health information and management systems-related discipline at an accredited academic institution.
- Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
