Maryland Chapter of HIMSS - Advocacy

Maryland HIMSS has a long history of involvement with the Maryland legislative process. We provide thoughtful perspectives to legislators and staff shaping our healthcare system by providing expertise on health information technology, telehealth, health information exchange, and other related topics.

We’ve enjoyed several opportunities to meet and execute events for our Advocacy purposes. Visit our Events & Education Calendar page for upcoming Advocacy activities.

Get involved! See our complete listing of committee volunteer opportunities on our Committees page and send an email to the advocacy chair.

Governor’s Health IT Proclamation May 20, 2025

Won’t you join us and make YOUR voice heard? Please consider signing on behalf of your Organization and/or HIMSS Chapter!  We continue our efforts to increase support for the MATCH IT Act, which amends the Public Health Service Act to establish standards and protocols to improve patient matching. Join us in signing the letter urging Congress to reject the inclusion of Section 510 in the Fiscal Year 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS) Appropriations bill that prohibits the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from spending any federal dollars to promulgate or adopt a national unique patient health identifier standard.
